The last decade has been very rewarding to the San Antonio commercial real estate community. Most of us expanded our businesses and provided rewarding jobs and careers for our neighbors. In fact, more than 130,000 San Antonians worked in our industry as of our most recent economic impact study.
But, as you know, many of these same neighbors and friends have been severely impacted by the current COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in unexpected layoffs and financial distress.
The Real Estate Council of San Antonio's 2020 Leadership Development Class was looking forward to closing out its program year by hosting its annual Clay Shoot, a great fund-raising/community service event the class hosts to raise money to fund local endowed scholarships. Unfortunately, COVID-19 threw a wrench in the planning process and forced the event's cancellation.
As our community partners, businesses, friends and families battle new and daunting challenges, we have decided to shift our focus and come together as a team to help those effected by the pandemic crisis. We joined with the Lots of Love non-profit fund-raising campaign, spearheaded by Mr. Al Honigblum, to seek monetary donations for the San Antonio Food Bank. Our community’s need for food and bare necessities has never been so overwhelming.
